    A recent study has discovered that people who eat quickly and eat until full are three times as likely to be overweight than people who do not share those same eating habits. This can also be true of those people who want to lose weight. Eating quickly and eating until you are full will not help you to lose weight.

    Apparently the aim of the study was to see if there was a correlation between eating behaviours and obesity. The study which was published in Octobers BMJ looked at 1,122 Japanese men and 2,165 Japanese women between the ages of 30 and 69 in 2003 and 2006. The researchers from Osaka University studied the relationship between the pace of eating until full and being overweight by analysing data collected from diet questionnaires filled in by participants. The results showed that 50.9% of men and 58.4% of women ate until full. 45.6% of men and 35% of women respectively indicated that they ate quickly. Participants who said they ate until both full and quickly had a higher total energy intake and higher body mass index (BMI) than those who did not share those same behaviours. The study showed that those men and women who were in the “eat until full and quickly group” were three times as likely to be overweight than the comparison group. So if you want to lose weight it would be advisable to ensure that you eat slowly and don't eat until you are full

    It is reported that Professor Ian McDonald from the University of Nottingham told the BBC that there were a number of reasons why eating fast could prevent you from being able to lose weight.

    “If you eat quickly you basically fill your stomach before your gastric feedback has had a chance to start developing-you can overfill the thing. The old wives tale about chewing 20 times might be true-if you take a bit more time eating, it could have an impact.”

    Here are four tips that will help you lose weight while eating restaurant food:

    1. Eat at vegetarian restaurants: To be safe, I advise you visit only restaurants that serve vegetarian meals. Non vegetarian restaurants are only allowed, once you understand how to eat out, and still lose weight. You have to know how to spot high-calorie foods and high-fat foods. Those are the ones that must be avoided at all cause until you get control of your eating habits. Controlling your habits is key to eating out and still being able to lose weight.

    Most restaurants serve ordinary chicken meat, and you should only be eating lean chicken meat. Ordinary chicken meat is fatty and should be avoided. Most restaurants don't offer the choice between the two, and that is why you should stick with vegetarian restaurants.

    2. Avoid all types of salad dressings: Many give information on the types of different salad dressing: lite, non fat and low carbohydrate, and state that they don't add to your weight loss problem. Not true. Avoid salad dressings as they are high in fat and calories. Ask for fresh lemon wedges and squeeze the juice over your salad and raw vegetables. As you already know, raw vegetable helps you burn fat by increasing your metabolic rate.

    3. Buffet style is affordable: Buffet style is the most affordable meals served today, but they are very rich in calories, and the fried foods should be avoided at all cost. These meals are prepared in fatty oils, and will not help you lose weight. So, while going with the buffet meals, choose the salads, fruits and other healthy alternatives. You should try to avoid eating any type of meals prepared in oil or fat. Grilled meals are great, but only small portions.     I have a sweet tooth. Ok, I admit it and it has been one of the greatest obstacles to overcome when it comes to my battle to lose weight. I truly think it is an addiction to sugar, especially refined sugar. Over the years of fighting the battle to lose weight, I have found it is just better to never put a refined sugar in your mouth. It's just like the alcoholic who can never take another drink if they want to maintain control.

    Saying that, I have found that there are some sweet snacks out there that will help curb the sugar giant when he rears his ugly head. It is possible to lose weight and still have a treat ever so often. I used the treats to reward myself every time I met a goal. Once I passed a few goals, I would use these as a twice a week snack. These are snacks for 100 calories or less, so adjust in other areas if necessary. You can still continue to lose weight, but have a sweet treat occasionally.

    1/2 c. sugar-free Jello and two Tbsp. reduced-fat whipped topping
    two handfuls of chocolate raisins
    1/2 an apple spread with 2 tsp. peanut butter
    1/2 c. orange juice (Try it frozen!)
    1/2 c. fat-free, sugar-free instant or packaged pudding
    whole wheat toast with 1 tsp. sugar-free spread
    natural yogurt
    single serving of apple sauce
    1 serving of many varieties of Campbell's soups

    half a turkey sandwich using reduced-calorie bread, mustard, and veggies

    Often one of the problems is that people simply see themselves as fat and unattractive and so consequently if they see themselves as fat they will eat as if they are fat, reducing their chances of losing weight considerably. One of the first things to conquer is this negative view of themselves. It maybe impossible for an overweight person to see themselves as slim but if they can start to behave as if they are slim they will start to eat like a slim person and slowly the weight will start to disappear.

    Nothing is quite a simplistic as that but all these aspects need to be taken into consideration if the ability to lose weight successfully is to be optimized. It is a form of mind over matter and also fits in with the ideas put forward by the law of attraction - you are what you think you are. If you think you are slim then you will attract slimness. If you want to lose weight it is no use eating all the right foods and doing all the exercises if deep down you see yourself as fat and unattractive as you will soon give up, your ability to lose weight will be diminished and you will become once again the fat person you think you are.

    I was often shocked by the dietary habits of many of my customers. Never having experienced real food cravings myself I found it hard to believe that anyone could eat a 2 liter tub of ice cream in one sitting, or a whole cake or even a whole packet of biscuits. But these cravings where very real to some people and were the main reason why they put weight on in the first place and then found it so difficult to lose weight.

    It would appear that most food cravings are cravings for sugar or white flour products that convert quickly into sugar. This is due to the fact that the person concerned has an inability to stabilize their blood sugar levels and so every time their blood sugar drops they have a craving for sugar to raise the blood sugar level as quickly as possible.

    Unfortunately this soon creates a yoyo effect and hypoglycemia is the result - constant low blood sugar - resulting in the regular need for sugar intake. This can be remedied by ensuring that your diet is high in complex carbohydrates as the more complex they are the longer it takes to break them down and the longer the body has to use the energy they are producing. In really bad cases supplementing with chromium can help to stabilize the blood sugar levels as long as this is done in conjunction with a diet high in complex carbohydrates. This will ultimately help you to lose weight more effectively.

    A number of people were surprised when they hadn't lost any weight since the previous week. Mainly this would be because they would have virtually eaten nothing during since the last meeting. They tended to equate no food with weight loss and were equally surprised to hear that to lose weight you have to eat or your metabolism will cease to work.     Study participants, who were diabetes patients, were divided into 3 groups according to body weight. The first group was named 'weight loss' group and involved 12% of study participants who lost about 25 pounds, but almost all of them regained the lost pounds in a 36 month period. The other two groups were named 'higher stable weight' and 'lower stable weight'.

    Researchers found that those who managed to significantly lose weight within the first 18 months after being diagnosed with diabetes were twice as likely to control blood cholesterol and sugar levels and blood pressure, than those who maintained stable weight. The surprise in the study was that these people managed to be healthier even when they gained weight four years later.

    When patients manage early metabolic control, the effect can last long enough to keep the patients healthier even after gaining the lost weight back, suggests the research. Probably, if scientists looked at weight gainers 15 years after the study, they would find that early weight losers do not benefit anymore.

    There are about 20 million Americans suffering from type 2 diabetes. Most of them are overweight and obese. Diabetes is a very complicated disease leading to numerous health conditions especially in elderly, such as heart disease, blindness, kidney damage.
